Mobile phase selection for biorelevant samples

The choice of an appropriate mobile phase is a key consideration when establishing a biorelevant experiment. Specifically, organic solvents with high purity and low viscosity are generally recommended. Either a monograph or QC HPLC mobile phase can be used if it does not contain acetonitrile. Mobile phase contains acetonitrile can potentially lead to clogging of the HPLC column or detector cell capillaries which may lead to increase in backpressure and unnecessary complications.

Organic solvents such as methanol or iso-propyl alcohol can be used instead of acetonitrile in combination of aqueous or non-aqueous phase.
